Ana Rivas Logan announces her bid to replace Frank Artiles, Florida Senate,District 40
Miami, Florida – Ana Rivas Logan, a Florida Minority Trailblazer, former School Board Member and State Representative announces her bid to replace Senator Frank Artiles. Ana Rivas Logan is a mother, grandmother, software engineer, college professor, public school teacher and administrator who arrived in Florida in the late 1960’s. She was born in Nicaragua to Cuban-exiled parents. With a track record of fighting special interest and the establishment on behalf of her constituents, Ana is the right candidate to turn this seat blue.
Ms. Rivas Logan changed parties in response to numerous anti-immigrant bills that the Florida Republican Establishment was attempting to make law. As an immigrant, she could not sit idly by. In 2014, Ana became a proud Democrat. Ms. Rivas Logan seeks to represent this southwestern Miami-Dade Senate seat that she has lived in most of her life. As a mother of a wounded Iraqi War Veteran, she understands the many needs military families have, not just on the battle field, but upon returning home as well.
As a member of the Florida House, Ana passed several bills that became law. Making health care affordable to all is a priority for Ana. She passed the vaccine bill that gives individuals the opportunity for low cost preventative care in their local pharmacies. Another priority for Ana is Public Safety. She passed a bill that became law that helps prosecute violent criminals. This law allows the admission of hearsay evidence in a court of law in domestic violence cases.
Protecting our natural resources is important to Ana, while on the Miami-Dade School Board, she fought to keep the Urban Development Boundary (UDB) to protect our Everglades. In addition, she helped create the schools that promote and protect the environment such as TERRA Environmental.
Having have struggled to learn the English language and assimilate to the American way of life, Ana knows that education is the great equalizer. She fights for her public-school students, every day to ensure that they receive a quality education and are college ready.
“It will be an honor to represent the people of Senate District 40 and I look forward to turning this seat blue.”
